Designer Pins and Pin/Pendants

Pins are my favorites. Not only do I love to wear them, but I also appreciate how much freedom they allow me as a designer. Since they don't have to fit around a finger or a neck and they needn't be as light as earrings, the creative possibilities are endless. I've only uncovered the proverbial tip of the iceberg and that leaves a lot of exploration yet to be done.

The shape and design of most pins permit another kind of flexibility: whenever possible, I add both a pin back and a bail (or loop) to the back of each handcrafted piece. So, most of these unique pieces can be hung on chains as easily as pinned to a collar or the lapel of a suit jacket. The best of both designer jewelry worlds!

As with my one-of-a-kind earrings and necklaces, I use various metals depending on the context. Generally, bezels (the "collars" that hold the stones) are 22k yellow gold, wire ornamentation is 18k, and the backs plus some decorative elements are 14k.
